Schecter built the Stiletto Extreme-5 as a five-string electric bass positioned toward players seeking active electronics and extended low-end range. It sat within the Stiletto line, distinguished by its quilted maple top over a mahogany body and bolt-on maple neck construction, with black chrome hardware throughout.
The bass carried a 35-inch scale length across a 24-fret rosewood fretboard with a 16-inch radius and an X-Jumbo fret profile. The thin 'C' neck profile measured .787 inches at the first fret and .866 inches at the twelfth. A Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut at 1.771 inches accommodated the five-string spread. Electronics consisted of two Schecter Diamond Bass pickups routed through a master volume, blend control, and active 2-band EQ, powered by a 9-volt clip-in battery compartment. Controls used metal knurled knobs with set screws. The bridge was a Diamond Bass unit. Tuners were Schecter-branded, and the creme 1-ply binding finished the body edges. Pearloid and abalone vector inlays marked the fretboard positions. The instrument shipped strung with Ernie Ball 5 String Super Long #2850 (.045–.130) strings. The SGR-5SB case was sold separately.
