Schecter positioned the Stiletto Extreme-4 as an active four-string bass in the Stiletto line, built on a bolt-on construction with a mahogany body and a quilted maple top finished in See-Thru Black. It occupied a mid-tier role in the range, pairing active electronics with a fast neck profile intended for players seeking extended range and playing comfort.
The neck was maple, shaped to a Thin 'C' profile measuring .787" at the first fret and .866" at the twelfth, joined to a rosewood fretboard with 24 X-Jumbo frets at a 16" radius and a 34" scale length. A Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut at 1.496" width and a 2-way adjustable truss rod with a 5/32" Allen nut handled end-to-end setup adjustability. Pearloid and abalone vector inlays ran the length of the board. Both the bridge and neck positions carried Schecter Diamond Bass pickups routed through a master volume, blend control, and active 2-band EQ, all accessed via metal knurled knobs with set screws. The Diamond Bass bridge, black chrome hardware, creme 1-ply binding, and flat top completed the build. Power was supplied by a single 9-volt battery via a clip-in compartment. The bass shipped strung with Ernie Ball 4 String Super Long #2849 (.045–.105).
