Schecter built the Omen Extreme-5 as a five-string electric bass positioned within the Omen Extreme series, manufactured in Indonesia. The instrument was constructed on a bolt-on neck joint — secured with six bolts — pairing a mahogany body with a flamed maple arched top and creme multi-ply binding.
The maple neck carries a Thin 'C' profile, measuring .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth, and is fitted with a two-way adjustable truss rod adjusted via a 5/32" (4mm) allen nut. The rosewood fretboard runs a 35" (889mm) scale with a 16" (406mm) radius, 24 X-Jumbo frets, and abalone and pearloid vector inlays. The nut is a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq unit at 1.771" (45mm) width. Hardware throughout is finished in black chrome. Tuning is handled by Schecter tuners, and the bridge is a Diamond Bass unit. Both the bridge and neck positions carry Schecter Diamond Bass pickups; the active circuit draws from a 9-volt clip-in battery. Controls consist of a single volume knob — metal knurled with a set screw. The instrument shipped strung with Ernie Ball 5 String Super Long #2850 (.045–.130).
