Schecter built the CV-4 as a four-string electric bass positioned within its Classic Vibe series, distinguished by its bolt-on construction and a combination of vintage-influenced aesthetics with modern playability features. The instrument shipped from Indonesia in a Gloss Natural finish over an ash body.
The maple neck, reinforced with carbon fiber rods, carries a Thin 'C' profile measuring .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .905" (23mm) at the twelfth, and attaches to the body via a 6-bolt joint with heel-access truss rod adjustment. The rosewood fretboard runs a 10" (254mm) radius across 22 narrow extra-jumbo frets, with a Graph Tech XL Ivory Tusq nut at 1.653" (42mm) width and offset dot inlays. Schecter Light-Weight tuners and an S-Tek bridge handle tuning stability and string anchoring, with all hardware finished in chrome. Electronics consist of two Schecter Diamond J-Bucker pickups — one at the bridge, one at the neck — routed through a volume control, a tone control, a 3-way pickup selector switch, and individual 3-way series-split-parallel switches for each pickup, giving the owner a broad range of passive tonal options. Metal knurled knobs with set screws complete the control layout. The instrument was strung with Ernie Ball 4 String Super Long #2849 (.045–.105) at the factory.
