Schecter positioned the Corsair as a set-neck, arched-top electric guitar within its lineup, finished in Gloss Natural. The body is maple with a three-piece mahogany neck joined by a set-neck construction, and the guitar was manufactured in Indonesia.
The Corsair carried an ebony fretboard with block inlays, a 14" (355mm) radius, and 22 medium frets across a 24.75" (628mm) scale. Neck profile is a Thin 'C', measuring .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth. The 1.653" (42mm) Graph Tech XL Ivory Tusq nut feeds into Grover Rotomatic 18:1 tuners. Creme multi-ply binding runs the body. Hardware is chrome throughout, anchored by a Schecter Tremolo with Roller Tune-O-Matic bridge. Both pickup positions carry Schecter Diamond '78 humbuckers, wired to a control layout of two volumes, two push-pull tone controls, and a three-way switch. Grip Tip Speed Knobs top the control pots. The truss rod is a two-way adjustable unit accessed with a 5/32" (4mm) Allen key. Schecter shipped the guitar strung with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky .010–.046 strings; the SGR-12 Corsair case was sold separately.
