Schecter positioned the PT Fastback within its Diamond Series as a bolt-on, flat-top electric guitar built around a mahogany body and a maple neck with an ebony fretboard. The Gold Top finish (GTOP) and ivory single-ply binding gave the instrument a visual reference to classic hardtail designs, while the construction and hardware choices placed it in the working-player tier of the Schecter catalogue.
The neck carries a Thin 'C' profile, measuring .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth, across a 14" (355mm) radius ebony board with 22 X-Jumbo frets and block inlays. The nut is a Graph Tech XL Ivory Tusq at 1.653" (42mm) wide, fed by a 2-way adjustable truss rod accessed via a 5/32" (4mm) Allen key. Scale length is 25.5" (648mm). Hardware is finished in chrome throughout: Grover tuners, a Diamond Hardtail bridge, and bell knobs. Both pickup positions carry Schecter Diamond UltraTron humbuckers, controlled via a 3-way switch with two independent volume and two push-pull tone controls. The guitar shipped strung with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky .010–.046 strings; a case was sold separately.
