Description

Schecter positioned the Corsair (item 1554) as a set-neck electric guitar within its line, finished in Gold Top and built around an arched-top maple body with creme multi-ply binding. The construction paired that body with a three-piece mahogany neck joined via set-neck joint, targeting players who wanted a shorter 24.75-inch scale with vintage-influenced appointments.

The ebony fretboard carries block inlays across 22 medium frets at a 14-inch radius, with a Graph Tech XL Ivory Tusq nut at 1.653 inches (42mm) wide. Neck thickness measures .787 inches at the first fret and .866 inches at the twelfth in a Thin 'C' profile. A two-way adjustable truss rod is accessed via a 5/32-inch Allen nut. Grover Rotomatic 18:1 tuners handle tuning stability, and the bridge is a Schecter Tremolo with a roller Tune-O-Matic saddle unit. Both pickup positions carry Schecter Diamond '78 humbuckers, controlled through a 2-volume/2-tone (push-pull)/3-way switch arrangement with Grip Tip Speed Knobs, all finished in chrome hardware. The instrument shipped strung with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky .010–.046; the SGR-12 Corsair case was sold separately.

Owners sourcing replacement parts should note that the roller Tune-O-Matic bridge accepts saddles sized to standard tune-o-matic spacing, and the 42mm nut width is compatible with widely available Graph Tech Tusq XL blanks of that dimension. For setup, intonation or any structural work, a qualified guitar technician familiar with set-neck instruments is the appropriate resource.

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
