Description

Schecter built the J-4 Sixx as a signature-format, four-string bass positioned within their production line and manufactured in Indonesia. The instrument followed a bolt-on construction with an alder body and a roasted maple neck reinforced with carbon fiber rods, paired with a roasted maple fretboard — a configuration Schecter oriented toward players seeking rigidity and stability across the neck joint.

The fretboard carries 21 narrow X-jumbo frets on a 16" radius, with a thin 'C' neck profile measuring .787" at the first fret and .866" at the twelfth. The nut is a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq unit at 1.496" width, and the truss rod is a two-way adjustable system accessed at the heel via a spoke wheel. Both pickup positions run Schecter USA MonsterTone-J™ single-coil-format pickups, routed through a Volume/Volume/Tone control layout; the tone knob incorporates a push-pull coil-tap function. The bridge is a Schecter Custom Bass unit that accepts both string-through-body and top-load stringing. Hardware throughout is finished in black, including the metal knurled knobs with set screws. Side dot markers glow in the dark. The instrument ships with Ernie Ball 4 String Super Long #2849 strings (.045–.105). The SGR-Universal Bass case is sold separately.

Owners sourcing replacement parts — including the Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut, MonsterTone-J™ pickups, or bridge saddles — should consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier for fit confirmation before ordering.

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
