Description

Schecter built the Omen Extreme-5 as a five-string electric bass positioned within the Omen Extreme series, manufactured in Indonesia. The model carried item number 2049 and was finished in Vintage Sunburst, pairing an arched flamed maple top over a mahogany body with cream multi-ply binding — a combination that placed it toward the upper end of the Omen line's aesthetic range.

The neck is maple, shaped to a Thin 'C' profile and bolt-on via a six-bolt joint. It measures .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth. The rosewood fretboard runs a 35" (889mm) scale with 24 X-Jumbo frets, a 16" (406mm) radius, abalone and pearloid vector inlays, and a 1.771" (45mm) Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut. A two-way adjustable truss rod takes a 5/32" (4mm) Allen key. Schecter-branded tuners and black chrome hardware complete the hardware complement. Both the bridge and neck positions carry Schecter Diamond Bass pickups — active, drawing power from a 9-volt clip-in battery — and a single volume control with metal knurled knobs governs the output. The bridge is a Schecter Diamond Bass unit. The instrument was strung from the factory with Ernie Ball 5 String Super Long #2850 (.045–.130) strings.

Owners requiring setup work, nut replacement, or pickup servicing should consult a qualified bass technician; the 35" extra-long scale and active electronics are relevant factors when sourcing compatible replacement parts.

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
