Description

Schecter positioned the Omen Extreme-4 as a feature-laden entry in its Omen bass line, built in Indonesia and finished in Vintage Sunburst over a flamed maple top. The instrument carried a bolt-on maple neck — attached with six bolts — and a rosewood fretboard, offering players a specification level typically found further up a manufacturer's range.

The neck profile is a Thin 'C', measuring .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth, with a 16" (406mm) fretboard radius and 24 X-Jumbo frets across a 34" (863mm) scale. A Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut sits at 1.496" (38mm) wide, and a 2-way adjustable truss rod takes a 5/32" (4mm) Allen key. The mahogany body carries a flamed maple arched top with cream multi-ply binding, finished in hardware finished in black chrome throughout. Electronics are active — two Schecter Diamond Bass pickups routed to a single volume control, powered via a 9-volt clip-in battery compartment — and the metal knurled knobs are secured with set screws. Abalone and pearloid Vector inlays run the length of the rosewood board, and the bass shipped strung with Ernie Ball 4-String Super Long #2849 (.045–.105) strings.

Owners sourcing replacement parts — including the Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut, Diamond Bass pickups, or the Diamond Bass bridge — should verify fit against the dimensions listed above; a qualified guitar technician or luthier can confirm compatibility and assist with any setup or active-electronics work.

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
