Schecter positioned the Omen Extreme-FR within its Omen line as a feature-rich, high-output electric guitar built for players who required a floating tremolo system and an arched, figured top at an accessible tier of the catalogue. It was constructed in Indonesia with a bolt-on maple neck joining a mahogany body capped in quilted maple, finished in See-Thru Black to allow the figured top to remain visible through the colour.
The neck carried a Thin 'C' profile measuring .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth, topped with a rosewood fretboard at a 14" (355mm) radius and fitted with 24 X-Jumbo frets. Abalone and Pearloid Vector inlays marked the positions. The nut was a Floyd Rose Special locking unit at 1.625" (41.3mm) width, paired with a Floyd Rose Special bridge — the two forming the complete locking tremolo assembly. A 2-way adjustable truss rod, accessed via a 5/32" (4mm) Allen key, provided neck relief adjustment. Schecter Diamond Plus humbuckers occupied both the bridge and neck positions, routed through a Volume/Volume/Tone (Push-Pull)/3-Way Switch control layout. Hardware throughout was finished in black chrome, and the body carried cream multi-ply binding. Tuning duties were handled by Schecter-branded tuners, though the locking nut reduces their day-to-day role once the nut is clamped.
