Description

Schecter positioned the Hellraiser Extreme-4 as a high-specification four-string bass within its Hellraiser Extreme line, built around a neck-thru-body construction with Ultra Access and a mahogany body topped with quilted maple. The instrument was manufactured in South Korea and finished in Crimson Red Burst Satin.

The multi-ply maple and walnut neck runs through the body and carries an ebony fretboard with 24 X-Jumbo frets, a 16" (406mm) radius, and MOP Gothic Cross inlays. The nut is a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq at 1.496" (38mm) wide, and a two-way adjustable truss rod is accessible via a 5/32" (4mm) Allen nut. Both pickup positions are loaded with EMG 35TW pickups wired to an active EMG 3-Band EQ; each volume control is a push-pull pot. The bridge is a Schecter Custom Bass String Thru unit that also accepts top loading. Hardware throughout is black chrome, and Grover tuners are fitted. The battery compartment runs on an 18-volt system and is secured with a screw plate. MOP binding with BLK/WHT/BLK multi-ply surrounds the body. The instrument ships strung with Ernie Ball 4 String Super Long #2849 (.045–.105) strings at a 34" (863mm) scale.

Owners sourcing replacement parts — including EMG 35-series pickups, Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nuts, or Grover tuners — should verify exact dimensions against the hardware currently installed; a qualified bass technician or luthier can confirm fit and assist with setup adjustments.

The owner archive

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
