Schecter built the Hellraiser Extreme-5 LH as a left-handed, five-string entry in the Hellraiser Extreme bass line, distinguished from the standard Hellraiser series by its quilted maple top over a mahogany body and neck-through construction with Ultra Access. The instrument was finished in Crimson Red Burst Satin and carried item number 1921.
Construction is neck-through with a maple/walnut multi-ply neck in a Thin 'C' profile, measuring .787" at the first fret and .866" at the twelfth. The ebony fretboard runs 35" (889mm) scale with 24 X-Jumbo frets, a 16" (406mm) radius, and MOP Gothic Cross inlays. The Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut measures 1.771" (45mm) wide. An arched top with MOP and BLK/WHT/BLK multi-ply binding completes the upper bout. Hardware throughout is black chrome, including Grover tuners and a Schecter Custom Bass String Thru bridge (also configurable for top load). Electronics are entirely active: two EMG 40TW pickups — one at bridge, one at neck — run through a push-pull volume control per pickup and an active EMG 3-Band EQ, powered by an 18-volt system accessed via a screw-plate battery compartment. Knobs are metal knurled with set screws. The instrument shipped strung with Ernie Ball 5 String Super Long #2850 (.045–.130).
Owners requiring setup work, fret service, or help sourcing compatible black chrome hardware, Graph Tech nut blanks, or EMG 40-series pickup replacements should consult a qualified bass technician or luthier familiar with active electronics and neck-through instruments.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
