Schecter built the Hellraiser C-9 (item 1781) as a nine-string extended-range instrument within the Hellraiser series, positioned to serve players requiring the additional low-end range that a standard six- or seven-string configuration does not provide. The guitar was produced in South Korea and constructed with a set-neck joint incorporating Schecter's Ultra Access heel contour, pairing a three-piece mahogany neck — reinforced with carbon fiber rods — to a mahogany body capped with a quilted maple arched top.
The 28-inch (711 mm) scale length accommodates the demands of the nine-string string set, with the Thin 'C' profile measuring .787 inches (20 mm) at the first fret and .866 inches (22 mm) at the twelfth. The 2.5-inch (63.5 mm) graphite nut, 20-inch (508 mm) radius rosewood fretboard, and 24 X-Jumbo frets complete the playing surface, which is marked with abalone Gothic Cross inlays.
