Description

Schecter built the Synyster Custom as a signature instrument for Synyster Gates, positioned as a high-specification electric guitar within the brand's artist series. Produced in South Korea, it carried the item number 1740 and was finished in Gloss Black with Silver Pin Stripes, with the pin stripe treatment listed as the top material.

Construction followed a set-neck joint with Ultra Access and a three-piece mahogany neck reinforced with carbon fiber rods, joined to a mahogany body. The ebony fretboard ran 24 X-Jumbo frets across a 16" (406mm) radius at a 25.5" (648mm) scale, with a 1.625" (41.3mm) Floyd Rose 1500 Series locking nut and a matching Floyd Rose 1500 Series bridge handling pitch stability. The Ultra Thin 'C' neck profile measured .748" (19mm) at the first fret and .787" (20mm) at the twelfth. Pearloid 'Syn' inlays ran the length of the board, with a Death Bat inlay at the twelfth fret and glow-in-the-dark side dot markers. Both pickup positions carried Schecter USA Synyster Gates Signature Humbuckers, wired to a volume control, a push-pull tone control, and a 3-way switch, with metal knurled set-screw knobs throughout. Grover Rotomatic 18:1 tuners and all-black hardware completed the specification. Strings were fitted from the factory as Ernie Ball Regular Slinky #2221 (.010–.046).

Owners requiring setup work, locking nut replacement, Floyd Rose component sourcing, or fretwork should consult a qualified guitar technician familiar with double-locking tremolo systems.

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
