Description

Schecter positioned the Tempest Custom as a set-neck, mahogany-body electric guitar built around vintage-voiced humbucking pickups and a carved arched top. It occupied the upper tier of the Tempest line, distinguished by its TonePros hardware, ebony fretboard, and cream multi-ply binding. The example referenced here carries the Faded Vintage Sunburst finish and was manufactured in South Korea.

The three-piece mahogany neck is reinforced with carbon fiber rods and carries a 'C' profile measuring .866" at the first fret and .925" at the twelfth. The 14" radius ebony fretboard runs 22 X-Jumbo frets over a 24.75" scale, and the nut position is filled by a Graph Tech XL Ivory Tusq unit at 1.653" width. A TonePros T3BT tune-o-matic bridge and T1Z tailpiece anchor the strings, with chrome hardware throughout. Pickups are a Schecter USA Pasadena Plus™ at the bridge and a Schecter USA Pasadena™ at the neck, controlled via individual volume knobs, a push-pull tone control, and a 3-way selector. Schecter locking tuners handle the headstock end. The two-way adjustable truss rod is accessed with a 5/32" (4mm) Allen key. Factory strings were Ernie Ball Regular Slinky .010–.046.

Owners sourcing replacement parts should note that the TonePros T3BT accepts standard tune-o-matic saddles and the 42mm nut width is compatible with widely available pre-slotted blanks; a qualified luthier or guitar technician can advise on correct fit and setup for this scale and radius combination.

The owner archive

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
