Schecter positioned the Tempest Custom as a set-neck electric guitar built around a mahogany body with an arched top, sitting within the Tempest family as a feature-forward variant distinguished by its gold hardware, multi-ply cream binding, and USA-wound pickup complement. Country of origin is South Korea.
The three-piece mahogany neck incorporates carbon fiber reinforcement rods and carries a C' profile measuring .866" at the first fret and .925" at the twelfth, topped with an ebony fretboard cut to a 14" radius and fitted with 22 X-Jumbo frets. Nut duties fall to a Graph Tech XL Ivory Tusq unit at 1.653" (42mm) width, and a two-way adjustable truss rod with a 5/32" Allen nut is accessible for relief adjustments. The 24.75" scale bridge is a TonePros T3BT tune-o-matic paired with a T1Z tailpiece — both TonePros locking components — while Schecter locking tuners anchor the headstock. Pickups are a Schecter USA Pasadena Plus™ at the bridge and a Schecter USA Pasadena™ at the neck, routed through a Volume/Volume/Tone(Push-Pull)/3-Way Switch control layout with Grip Tip Speed Knobs. Pearloid Split Crown inlays mark the ebony board, and the guitar ships strung with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky .010–.046.
Owners sourcing replacement hardware should note that the TonePros T3BT accepts standard tune-o-matic saddles and the 42mm nut width is a useful reference when fitting a replacement nut; a qualified guitar technician can advise on compatible substitutes for the Graph Tech Tusq unit and truss rod adjustments.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
