Schecter built the Riot-5 as a five-string bass positioned within its extended-range lineup, featuring a bolt-on construction and a swamp ash body with a burl top finished in Inferno Burst. The instrument was strung to a 35-inch scale length, placing it in long-scale territory suited to drop tunings and low-B string tension.
The multi-ply maple and walnut neck incorporates carbon fiber reinforcement rods and carries a Thin 'C' profile, measuring .787 inches at the first fret and .866 inches at the twelfth. The ebony fretboard runs to 24 X-Jumbo frets on a 16-inch radius with offset/reverse dot inlays, and the Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut is cut to 1.771 inches across. Electronics consist of an EMG 40PX-CS at the neck position and an EMG 40JX-CS at the bridge, routed through an EMG-B30 three-band active EQ with master volume and blend controls on metal knurled knobs. The Schecter Custom Bass bridge accepts both string-through-body and top-load stringing. Hardware throughout is finished in black, and a 9-volt clip-in battery compartment powers the active circuit.
