Description

Schecter built the Riot-4 as a bolt-on, four-string electric bass in the Riot series, finished here in Aurora Burst over a Swamp Ash body with a Burl top. The instrument sat in Schecter's line as a feature-laden production bass combining active electronics with a multi-laminate neck construction.

The neck is a Maple/Walnut multi-ply assembly reinforced with Carbon Fiber Reinforcement Rods, joining the Swamp Ash body via a bolt-on construction. The Ebony fretboard carries 24 X-Jumbo frets at a 16" (406mm) radius, with a Thin 'C' profile measuring .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth. Nut duties fall to a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq unit at 1.496" (38mm) width, and a 2-Way Adjustable truss rod with a 5/32" (4mm) Allen nut is accessible for neck relief adjustments. The 34" (863mm) scale runs string-through or top-load via the Schecter Custom Bass String Thru bridge, with all hardware finished in black. Pickups are an EMG 35PX-CS at the neck and an EMG 35JX-CS at the bridge, managed through a Master Volume, Blend, and EMG-B30 3-Band Active EQ — powered by a 9-volt clip-in battery. Tuning is handled by Schecter-branded tuners, and the bass shipped strung with Ernie Ball 4 String Super Long #2849 (.045–.105).

Owners requiring setup adjustments, fretwork, or hardware sourcing for this instrument should consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier familiar with active bass systems.

The owner archive

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
