Description

Schecter positioned the Riot-5 (item 1452) as a five-string bass in their active lineup, built on a bolt-on construction with a swamp ash body and a burl top finished in Aurora Burst. The multi-ply maple and walnut neck incorporates carbon fiber reinforcement rods and carries a thin 'C' profile, keeping the hand position consistent across the 35-inch scale — a length Schecter selected for the added string tension a five-string instrument demands.

The ebony fretboard runs 24 X-Jumbo frets over a 16-inch radius, with a 45mm Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut at the headstock end and offset/reverse dot inlays as position markers. Electronics are a matched EMG pair — a 40PX-CS at the neck and a 40JX-CS at the bridge — controlled through a master volume, a blend pot, and an EMG-B30 three-band active EQ, all powered by a clip-in 9-volt battery. The Schecter Custom Bass bridge supports both string-through and top-load stringing. Hardware throughout is finished in black, knobs are metal knurled with set screws, and tuners are Schecter-branded. The instrument shipped strung with Ernie Ball 5 String Super Long #2850 (.045–.130). The flat-top body carries a bevel edge. A universal bass case was available separately.

Owners sourcing replacement parts — bridge saddles, nut blanks, EMG 40-series pickups or preamp components — should consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier who can confirm fit against the instrument's actual dimensions.

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
