Schecter built the Riot-4 as a bolt-on, four-string bass positioned within its active-electronics lineup. The instrument carried item number 1451 and was manufactured in Indonesia, finished in Inferno Burst over a Swamp Ash body with a Burl top and a flat top with bevel edge profile.
The multi-ply Maple/Walnut neck incorporates Carbon Fiber Reinforcement Rods and a Thin 'C' profile, measuring .787" at the first fret and .866" at the twelfth. A 34" scale Ebony fretboard carries 24 X-Jumbo frets at a 16" radius, with Offset/Reverse Dot inlays. The Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut measures 1.496" wide, and the truss rod is a 2-Way Adjustable unit accessed via a 5/32" Allen nut. Electronics are fully active: an EMG 35PX-CS at the neck and an EMG 35JX-CS at the bridge feed into an EMG-B30 3-Band Active EQ, controlled by Master Volume, Blend, and EQ knobs — Metal Knurled with set screws — drawing power from a 9-volt clip-in battery compartment. The Schecter Custom Bass bridge accepts either string-through-body or top-load stringing. Hardware throughout is black. Schecter-branded tuners complete the headstock. The instrument shipped strung with Ernie Ball 4-String Super Long #2849 (.045–.105). A universal bass case was sold separately.
