Schecter built the SLS Evil Twin-5 LH as a left-handed, five-string electric bass within its SLS (Super LX Series) line, positioned as a high-specification extended-range instrument featuring neck-through construction with Ultra Access. The Satin Black example carries item number 1397.
The multi-ply maple, walnut, and padauk neck is reinforced with carbon fiber rods and runs neck-through the swamp ash body, which features an arched top and ivory single-ply binding. The 35-inch scale ebony fretboard carries 24 X-jumbo stainless steel frets on a 16-inch radius, with Roman numeral inlays and glow-in-the-dark side dot markers. The nut is a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq measuring 1.771 inches wide. Two Fishman Fluence Bass Soapbar pickups feed an onboard Fishman 2-Band EQ; the master volume push-pull coil-splits to single-coil mode, and a 3-way toggle cycles through Classic, Funk, and Modern voicings. The bridge is a Schecter Custom Bass unit accepting either string-through or top-load stringing. All hardware is finished in black, tuners are Grover Bass 144 Series, knobs are metal knurled with set screws, and the 9-volt battery loads via a clip-in compartment. The truss rod is a 2-way adjustable unit with heel-access spoke wheel. Schecter shipped this model strung with Ernie Ball 5-String Super Long #2850 (.045–.130).
Owners sourcing replacement parts — particularly the Fishman Fluence pickups, Graph Tech XL Tusq nut, or Grover 144 Series tuners — should confirm exact dimensions against the specs above; a qualified bass luthier or guitar technician can assist with setup, fret work, and electronics service on this instrument.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
