Schecter built the SLS Evil Twin-4 as a neck-through, four-string electric bass positioned within its SLS (Select) line. The instrument was offered in Satin Black and carried construction and hardware choices consistent with a player-focused instrument built for extended technical use, featuring an arched top body of Swamp Ash with ivory single-ply binding and a neck-through-body construction with Ultra Access to the upper register.
The multi-ply Maple, Walnut, and Padauk neck incorporates carbon fiber reinforcement rods and is shaped to a Thin 'C' profile, measuring .787" at the first fret and .866" at the twelfth. It carries a 34" scale ebony fretboard with a 16" radius, 24 X-Jumbo stainless steel frets, Roman numeral inlays, glow-in-the-dark side dot markers, and a 1.496" Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut. Tuning is handled by Grover Bass 144 Series machines. Both the bridge and neck positions use Fishman Fluence Bass Soapbar pickups, with electronics comprising a Master Volume (with push-pull single-coil switching), a Blend control, a 2-Band Fishman EQ, and a 3-Way Toggle Voicing Switch offering Classic, Funk, and Modern voices. The Schecter Custom Bass bridge accepts either string-through or top-load stringing. All hardware is finished in black, and a 9-volt clip-in battery compartment serves the active electronics. The bass was strung from the factory with Ernie Ball 4-String Super Long #2849 (.045–.105).
