Schecter built the SLS Elite-5 as a high-specification five-string bass within its SLS (Super Light Series) Elite line, manufactured in South Korea. The instrument was positioned at the upper tier of Schecter's bass catalogue, combining a neck-through construction with active electronics and premium tonewoods.
The SLS Elite-5 features a swamp ash body with a flamed maple top and ivory single-ply binding, finished here in Black Fade Burst. The neck runs through the body with Ultra Access heel geometry and is constructed from a multi-ply maple, walnut, and padauk laminate reinforced with carbon fiber rods — a build intended to resist seasonal movement across the 35-inch (889mm) scale. The ebony fretboard carries 24 X-jumbo stainless steel frets on a 16-inch (406mm) radius, with a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut at 1.771 inches (45mm) width. A 2-way adjustable truss rod is accessible at the heel via a spoke wheel. Hardware is finished in black throughout, with Grover 144 Series bass tuners and a Schecter Custom string-through bridge that also accepts top loading. Electronics consist of dual Fishman Fluence Bass Soapbar pickups with a master volume (push-pull for single-coil), blend control, 2-band Fishman EQ, and a 3-way toggle voicing switch offering Classic, Funk, and Modern voices. Power is supplied by a 9-volt clip-in battery. Strings shipped as Ernie Ball 5-String Super Long #2850 (.045–.130).
Owners requiring setup work, fret maintenance, or guidance on compatible replacement components should consult a qualified bass technician or luthier familiar with neck-through instruments and active Fishman electronics.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
