Schecter built the SLS Elite-4 as a high-specification neck-through electric bass, positioning it at the upper tier of the SLS (Super Lightweight Series) line. The instrument was produced in South Korea and offered in Black Fade Burst with matching black hardware.
Construction follows a neck-through design with Ultra Access, using a multi-ply Maple, Walnut, and Padauk neck reinforced with carbon fiber rods — a configuration intended to maximise rigidity and long-term stability. The body is Swamp Ash with a Flamed Maple arched top and Ivory single-ply binding. The 34-inch scale ebony fretboard carries 24 X-Jumbo stainless steel frets at a 16-inch radius, with a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut at 1.496-inch width and a Thin 'C' profile measuring .787 inches at the first fret and .866 inches at the twelfth. Abalone offset/reverse dot inlays appear on the face; abalone dots mark the side. Electronics are built around a pair of Fishman Fluence Bass Soapbar pickups, controlled by a master volume with push-pull single-coil switching, a blend pot, a two-band Fishman EQ, and a three-way toggle voicing switch selecting Classic, Funk, or Modern voices. Power comes from a 9-volt clip-in battery compartment. The Schecter Custom Bass bridge accepts both string-through and top-load stringing. Tuning is handled by Grover Bass 144 Series tuners. The bass shipped with Ernie Ball 4 String Super Long #2849 (.045–.105) strings; the SGR-6B case was sold separately.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — including the Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut, Grover 144 Series tuners, or Fishman Fluence components — should consult a qualified bass guitar technician who can confirm compatibility with the neck-through construction and specific hardware mounting dimensions before fitting.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
