Schecter positioned the SLS Elite-5 as a premium five-string electric bass within its SLS (Super LX Signature) Elite series, manufactured in South Korea. The instrument was built around a neck-thru construction with Ultra Access, pairing a Swamp Ash body and Flamed Maple arched top with Ivory 1-ply binding — a combination that placed it toward the upper end of Schecter's production bass lineup.
The multi-ply Maple, Walnut, and Padauk neck incorporates Carbon Fiber Reinforcement Rods and runs a 35" (889mm) scale length, terminating at a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut with a 1.771" (45mm) width. The Ebony fretboard carries 24 X-Jumbo Stainless Steel frets on a 16" (406mm) radius, dressed with Abalone Offset/Reverse Dot inlays and Abalone side dots. A Thin 'C' neck profile measures .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth, with a two-way adjustable truss rod accessible via a heel-mounted spoke wheel. Electronics are built around a pair of Fishman Fluence Bass Soapbar pickups routed through a Master Volume (with Push-Pull single-coil switching), a Blend control, a 2-Band Fishman EQ, and a 3-Way Toggle Voicing Switch offering Classic, Funk, and Modern voices. The Schecter Custom Bass bridge accepts both string-thru and top-load stringing. Hardware throughout is finished in black; tuning is handled by Grover Bass 144 Series machines. The instrument shipped strung with Ernie Ball 5 String Super Long #2850 (.045–.130) strings, and the SGR-6B case was sold separately.
Owners requiring setup work, fret maintenance, or assistance sourcing compatible replacement hardware should consult a qualified bass guitar technician or luthier familiar with neck-thru instruments and Fishman Fluence active electronics.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
