Schecter positioned the C-5 Apocalypse at the upper tier of its bass lineup, offering a five-string instrument built around an active-voiced set-neck platform with extended-range specifications. The Rusty Grey (RG) finish with satin black hardware gave the model a deliberately weathered industrial aesthetic within the Apocalypse series.
Construction centred on a swamp ash body with an arched top and black 1-ply binding, joined to a multi-ply maple and padauk neck reinforced with carbon fibre rods via a set-neck joint with ultra-access heel carving. The ebony fretboard ran a 16" (406mm) radius across 24 X-jumbo stainless steel frets at a 35" (889mm) scale length, capped by a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut at 1.771" (45mm) width. Tuning was handled by Grover machines. Both pickup positions carried Schecter USA Apocalypse J-Bucker pickups, and the control layout — volume, blend, tone, and a 3-way toggle offering series, split, and parallel modes — gave the player a wide range of voicings from a single instrument. The Schecter Custom Hardtail bridge with string-through-body anchoring completed the hardware spec, with Hipshot O-Ring knobs throughout. Ernie Ball 5 String Super Long #2850 (.045–.130) strings were fitted as standard, and mother-of-pearl triangle inlays marked the 12th and 24th frets, with glow-in-the-dark side dot markers along the neck edge.
Owners sourcing replacement components — including the Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut, Grover tuners, or Hipshot O-Ring knobs — should verify fit against the stated dimensions before purchasing, and consult a qualified guitar technician for any setup or structural work.

What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
