Schecter positioned the Sun Valley Super Shredder III within its performance-oriented shred lineup, building the instrument around a bolt-on maple neck joined to a mahogany body with a quilted maple top. The Sky Burst finish was offered in a right-handed configuration, with all hardware finished in black.
The neck carried a Thin 'C' profile measuring .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth, topped with a 24-fret ebony fretboard at a 14" (355mm) radius with offset/reverse dot inlays. Frets were X-Jumbo gauge across a 25.5" (648mm) scale. A Floyd Rose 1500 Series locking nut — 1.625" (41.3mm) wide — paired with a Floyd Rose 1500 Series bridge, both anchoring the double-locking vibrato system. The pickup complement comprised an EMG Retro Active Hot 70 humbucker at the bridge flanked by two EMG Retro Active single-coil units at middle and neck positions, routed through a Volume/Tone/5-Way Switch arrangement. Active electronics drew power from a 9-volt clip-in battery compartment. Tuning machines were Schecter-branded, and the instrument shipped strung with Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky .009–.046 strings. A hard case was sold separately.
