Description

Schecter positioned the Sun Valley Super Shredder III (item 1276) as a high-output, performance-oriented electric guitar within its Sun Valley series. The model featured a bolt-on construction pairing a mahogany body with a quilted maple top, a maple neck, and a maple fretboard with offset/reverse dot inlays — a configuration aimed at players prioritising speed and aggressive tonal output.

The 25.5" (648mm) scale neck carried 24 X-Jumbo frets on a 14" (355mm) radius board, with a Thin 'C' profile measuring .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth. A Floyd Rose 1500 Series locking nut (1.625" / 41.3mm width) paired with a Floyd Rose 1500 Series bridge handled tuning stability under heavy use. The pickup complement consisted of an EMG Retro Active Hot 70 humbucker at the bridge and EMG Retro Active Single Coil pickups at the middle and neck positions, routed through a Volume/Tone/5-Way Switch arrangement and powered by a 9-volt clip-in battery compartment. Hardware throughout was finished in black, with metal knurled knobs secured by set screws. The two-way adjustable truss rod accepts a 5/32" (4mm) allen key. The guitar shipped strung with Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky #2222 (.009–.046).

Owners sourcing replacement parts — particularly Floyd Rose 1500 Series components, EMG Retro Active pickups, or a compatible 9-volt battery clip — should consult a qualified guitar technician to confirm fit against the original specifications above before installation.

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
