Schecter positioned the Damien Platinum-8 LH as an extended-range, left-handed entry in the Damien Platinum series, built around active pickups and a long-scale neck designed for eight-string tunings. The set-neck construction with Ultra Access joined a mahogany body featuring an arched top and silver/platinum multi-ply binding, finished in Satin Black.
The three-piece maple neck, reinforced with carbon fiber rods, carried a thin 'C' profile with a 28-inch scale and a notably flat 20-inch fretboard radius — a combination suited to the low tension demands of eight-string playing. Twenty-four X-Jumbo frets sat on a rosewood fretboard inlaid with Platinum Bat markers, and the nut position used a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq unit at 2.125 inches wide to accommodate the additional string spread. Both pickup positions ran EMG 808 active humbuckers, controlled by a volume, tone, and three-way switch layout with metal knurled knobs; a 9-volt clip-in battery compartment served the active electronics. The bridge was a Schecter Custom Hardtail with string-through-body stringing, finished in satin chrome to match the remaining hardware. Grover tuners completed the headstock. The instrument shipped strung with Ernie Ball 8-String Skinny Top Heavy Bottom #2624 (.009–.080). A case was not included.
Owners requiring setup adjustments, fret work, or hardware sourcing should consult a qualified guitar technician familiar with extended-range instruments.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
