Schecter positioned the Damien Platinum-7 as a high-specification seven-string electric guitar within its Damien Platinum series, built in South Korea with a mahogany body and a three-piece maple neck joined to the body via a set-neck construction with Ultra Access. The satin black finish and silver/platinum multi-ply binding established a deliberately understated aesthetic, while satin chrome hardware ran consistently across the instrument.
The 26.5-inch baritone scale — 673mm — was paired with 24 X-jumbo frets on a rosewood fretboard with a flat 16-inch radius, a Thin 'C' neck profile, and neck thickness measurements of .787 inches at the first fret and .866 inches at the twelfth. The 1.889-inch nut width accommodated the seven-string spread across a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut. Electronics comprised an active EMG 81-7 at the bridge and an EMG 85-7 at the neck, routed through a volume control, a tone control, and a three-way switch; a 9-volt clip-in battery compartment housed the active circuit's power source. The bridge was a tune-o-matic with string-through-body anchoring. Grover tuners, platinum bat inlays, and metal knurled knobs with set screws completed the specification. The instrument shipped strung with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky 7 strings (.010–.056).
