Hagstrom built the Viking II as one of the centrepiece models of its semi-hollow line, and the VIK67-G-WCT-U represented the model in a Wild Cherry Transparent finish with gold hardware throughout. The Viking originally entered production in 1965 and remained in the line until 1979; following Hagstrom's return to the international market in 2004, the Viking was reissued and continued as one of the brand's principal hollow-body offerings.
The body is a hollow double-cutaway construction in 5-ply Canadian Flame Maple Ply with multi-ply binding and f-holes. The bolt-on neck is Canadian Hard Maple fitted with Hagstrom's H-Expander™ truss rod system. The Resinator™ fingerboard runs a 24.56" (624 mm) scale with 22 medium-jumbo frets on a 15" radius, pearloid block inlays, and a 43 mm Graph Tech Black Tusq XL nut. Electronics consist of two Hagstrom H-52 AlNiCo 5 gold mini-humbucker pickups with coil-split capability, controlled by a 3-way toggle switch and two volume and two tone knobs, each tone pot functioning as a push/pull. The bridge is a long-throw tune-o-matic seated on a wood block, paired with a Hagstrom trapeze tailpiece, all in gold finish. Tuning is handled by Hagstrom 18:1 die-cast tuners in gold. The guitar ships strung with D'Addario 10-46. Compatible cases and bags are catalogued under accessory codes C55 and E25 respectively.
Owners seeking setup adjustments, fret work, or hardware sourcing for this model should consult a qualified guitar technician, particularly when sourcing tune-o-matic saddles or mini-humbucker replacements sized to the H-52 routing.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
