Hagstrom built the Viking II as one of its flagship hollow-body electrics, positioning it as a continuation of the Viking line that ran from 1965 through 1979. Following Hagstrom's return to the international market in 2004, the Viking was reintroduced and the VIK67-G-BLK-U represents that revived production, finished in Black Gloss.
The body is a hollow double-cutaway construction in 5-ply Canadian Flame Maple Ply with multi-ply binding and f-holes. The neck is a bolt-on Canadian Hard Maple unit fitted with Hagstrom's H-Expander™ truss rod system. The Resinator™ fingerboard runs a 24.56" (624 mm) scale with 22 medium-jumbo frets at a 15" radius, pearloid block inlays, and a 43 mm Graph Tech Black Tusq XL nut. Two Hagstrom H-52 AlNiCo 5 Gold Mini Humbucker pickups — each with coil-split capability — are selected via a 3-way toggle switch with gold finish, and controlled through two volume and two push/pull tone pots. The long-throw tune-o-matic bridge sits on a wood block paired with a Hagstrom trapeze tailpiece, all in gold finish. Tuning is handled by Hagstrom 18:1 chrome die-cast tuners in gold finish, and the guitar ships strung with D'Addario 10-46s. Compatible optional cases include the C55 hard case and E25 bag.
