Hagstrom built the Super Viking as a continuation of the Viking semi-hollow platform, incorporating elements drawn from the company's Super Swede model. Within the Hagstrom line it represented a convergence of two distinct lineages, marrying the semi-hollow construction of the Viking series with hardware and feature choices associated with the Super Swede.
The body is semi-hollow with a contoured top, fitted with a set neck made from Resinator™ material and stabilised by Hagstrom's H-Expander™ truss rod system. The 25.5" (648 mm) scale runs across 22 medium jumbo frets on a 15" radius board inlaid with pearl block markers. Nut duties fall to a GraphTech Black Tusq XL unit at 43 mm width. Two Custom HJ-50'C pickups feed a 3-way toggle selector, with independent volume and tone controls for each pickup; both tone pots incorporate push/pull coil-split switching. The bridge is a long-travel tune-o-matic paired with a Hagstrom trapeze tailpiece, and the instrument ships strung with D'Addario EXP 110 (10–46). Tuning machines are Hagstrom's own 18:1 ratio design. Compatible optional protection is the C55 case or E25 bag.
