Hagstrom produced the Viking Deluxe 12-String as part of its Viking semi-hollow line, positioning the model as a 12-string variant built around maple throughout the body and neck. The choice of maple was deliberate: Hagstrom noted that the wood's hardness contributes tonal brightness, a quality suited to balancing the doubled string courses of a 12-string configuration.
The guitar is built with a contoured top and a set neck joint. The Resinator fretboard is fitted with 22 medium-jumbo frets, pearl block inlays, and a 15" radius, with a 45 mm GraphTech Black Tusq XL nut accommodating the 12-string spread across a 24.75" (628 mm) scale. The H-Expander™ truss rod runs through the neck. Hardware includes a Long Travel Tune-O-Matic bridge with Hagstrom Stop Tail and Hagstrom Design 18:1 tuning keys. Two Hagstrom H-50 humbucking pickups — voiced specifically for this 12-string model according to Hagstrom's own documentation — are controlled via a 3-way toggle switch with independent volume and tone controls for each pickup. The guitar ships strung with D'Addario EXL 150s. Compatible optional cases and bags are listed as the C-55 and GigB-41 respectively.
