Hagstrom built the Ultra Swede as a single-cutaway electric guitar positioned to bring together the defining characteristics of the Hagstrom platform in a contemporary form. It sat as a flagship expression of the maker's design philosophy, pairing a slender, compact body with a set neck profiled in a shallow D shape.
The neck carries Hagstrom's H-Expander™ truss rod system and is constructed from Resinator™ fretboard material over a 24.75" (628 mm) scale, with a 43 mm GraphTech Black Tusq XL nut, 15" radius, 22 medium jumbo frets, and select block pearl and abalone inlays. Two Hagstrom Custom 62 humbuckers feed a 3-way toggle selector, with overall output governed by a single volume and single tone control; a mini toggle coil-split switch provides access to single-coil voicing from each pickup. The Long Travel Tune-O-Matic bridge with Hagstrom stop tailpiece and single brass string blocks underpins the string path, while Hagstrom Design 18:1 tuning keys handle pitch stability. The guitar was strung from the factory with D'Addario EXP 110 (10–46). A maple top completes the construction. The model shipped in a Worn Denim finish.
