Hagstrom positioned the Swede as a single-cutaway electric guitar within its line, drawing on the brand's Scandinavian heritage. The model carried the Custom 58 AlNiCo humbucking pickup set and the playability characteristics associated with Hagstrom's proprietary neck and fingerboard system.
The Swede was built around a mahogany top on a single-cutaway body with a set neck. The neck featured Hagstrom's H-Expander™ truss rod and a Resinator™ fingerboard with a 15" radius, pearl block inlays, and 22 medium-jumbo frets across a 24.75" (628 mm) scale. Nut duties were handled by a GraphTech Black Tusq XL unit at 43 mm width. Two Hagstrom Custom 58 AlNiCo humbuckers fed into a circuit offering two volume controls, two tone controls, and a 3-way sound filter toggle switch, selected via a 3-way toggle pickup selector. The bridge was a Long Travel Tune-O-Matic paired with a Hagstrom stop tailpiece and single brass string blocks. Tuning machines were Hagstrom's own 18:1-ratio design. The guitar shipped strung with D'Addario EXP 110s (10–46). Compatible optional cases were listed as the C51 hard case and the E20 bag.
Owners seeking setup adjustments, fret work, or compatible replacement parts for the tune-o-matic bridge, nut, or tuning machines should consult a qualified guitar technician for guidance.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
