Hagstrom built the Super Viking as a continuation of the Viking semi-hollow platform, incorporating elements drawn from the company's Super Swede model into that established format. It sat within Hagstrom's semi-hollow line as a feature-elevated variant of the standard Viking.
The Super Viking's neck is constructed from Resinator™ material with a 15" radius fingerboard, 22 medium jumbo frets, and pearl block inlays. The nut is a 43 mm GraphTech Black Tusq XL unit. Scale length runs 25.5" (648 mm), and the neck joins the contoured semi-hollow body via a set neck joint. An H-Expander™ truss rod runs through the neck. Two custom HJ-50'C pickups are selected via a 3-way toggle switch; each pickup has its own dedicated volume and tone control, with the tone pots doubling as push/pull coil splits. The bridge is a Long Travel Tune-O-Matic paired with a Hagstrom trapeze tailpiece, and tuning is handled by Hagstrom Design 18:1 ratio keys. The guitar ships strung with D'Addario EXP 110 (10–46). A hard case (C55) and gig bag (E25) were available as optional accessories.
