Hagstrom built the Super Viking as a continuation of the Viking semi-hollow platform, incorporating elements drawn from the company's Super Swede model into that established body format. The instrument sat within Hagstrom's electric line as a feature-forward interpretation of their longstanding semi-hollow design.
The Super Viking carries a contoured top and a set neck fitted with Hagstrom's H-Expander™ truss rod system. The Resinator™ fingerboard runs 22 medium-jumbo frets across a 15" radius, with pearl block inlays marking position. A GraphTech Black Tusq XL nut measures 43 mm in width. Two custom HJ-50'C pickups feed a 3-way toggle selector, with individual volume and tone controls for each pickup; both tone pots incorporate a push/pull coil-split function. The Long Travel Tune-O-Matic bridge pairs with a Hagstrom trapeze tailpiece, and the tuning machines are Hagstrom's own 18:1-ratio design. The guitar shipped strung with D'Addario EXP 110 (.010–.046).
Owners requiring setup work, replacement parts sourcing, or hardware service should consult a qualified guitar technician familiar with semi-hollow instruments. The 43 mm nut width, Long Travel Tune-O-Matic spacing, and trapeze tailpiece mount point are the key dimensions to confirm when sourcing replacement components.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
