Hagstrom positioned the Super Swede as one of its flagship models within its electric guitar line. First introduced in the late 1970s, the Super Swede was built around a mahogany body with a 10 mm carved maple top and a set mahogany neck — a construction approach Hagstrom carried forward as a defining characteristic of the model.
The neck employs Hagstrom's H-Expander™ truss rod system and is made from Resinator™ fretboard material, carrying Super Swede Block inlays across 22 medium jumbo frets at a 15" radius. The 25.5" (648 mm) scale runs to a 43 mm GraphTech Black Tusq XL nut. Two Hagstrom Custom 58 AlNiCo pickups feed a 3-way toggle selector, with independent volume and tone controls for each pickup and a mini toggle coil-split switch. The Long Travel Tune-O-Matic bridge uses single brass string blocks and pairs with a Hagstrom stop tailpiece, while Hagstrom Design 18:1 tuning keys handle tuning stability. The guitar ships strung with D'Addario EXP 110 (10-46) strings.
Owners sourcing replacement parts should note that the Long Travel Tune-O-Matic bridge accepts hardware dimensioned to that specification, and the GraphTech Black Tusq XL nut is a catalogued GraphTech component.
