Cort built the SFX-AB-OPBK as part of its SFX Series, an acoustic guitar line distinguished by its SFX body configuration with a Venetian cutaway. The model was finished in an open pore black treatment, a surface preparation Cort applied to allow the ash burl grain to remain tactile and visually unobscured.
The top, back and sides are constructed from ash burl, a material Cort selected for its complex figuring. The neck is mahogany, joined to the body via a dovetail neck joint, with a merbau fretboard and merbau bridge. The nut width measures 1 11/16" (43mm) across a 25.5" (648mm) scale, with 20 frets, dot inlays, ivory binding, a red acrylic rosette and die-cast tuners. Internal bracing follows an advanced X-bracing pattern. Electronics are handled by the Cort CE304T preamp system.
