Cort built the SFX-AB-OP as part of its SFX Series of acoustic guitars, positioning the model around an Ash Burl body finished in an open pore Natural treatment. The SFX body format paired with a Venetian cutaway defined the instrument's silhouette within the series.
The top, back, and sides are all Ash Burl, joined with Advanced X-Bracing beneath the top. The neck is Mahogany, attached via a dovetail joint, and carries a Merbau fretboard with 20 frets, dot inlays, and a 1 11/16" (43mm) nut width across a 25.5" (648mm) scale. A Red Acryl rosette rings the soundhole, Ivory binding trims the body, and a Merbau bridge anchors the strings. Die-cast tuners are fitted at the headstock. Electronics are handled by the Cort CE304T system. The open pore finish leaves the Ash Burl surface exposed rather than sealed under a conventional gloss or satin coat.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — bridge saddle, nut blanks, tuner buttons, or CE304T components — should note the 43mm nut width and 25.5" scale when cross-referencing compatible hardware. For setup, intonation adjustments, or electronics service, a qualified guitar technician will be best placed to work with the specifications listed here.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
