Cort built the Earth50-OP as part of its Earth Series EasyPlay Collection, positioning it as an entry-level acoustic guitar with a 7/8 dreadnought body, shortened scale, and lightweight string set intended to ease the learning curve for novice players. Despite its learner-oriented brief, Cort specified solid tonewoods and construction techniques more typically associated with mid-tier instruments.
The top is solid spruce, braced with scalloped traditional X-bracing and joined to the body via a dovetail neck joint. Back and sides are African mahogany (Okoume), the neck is mahogany (Palaquium), and both the fretboard and bridge are Ovangkol. The nut width is 43mm (1 11/16") and the scale length is 628mm (24.75"). Tuners are die-cast, the rosette is brown etched, and the guitar ships strung with light gauge coated strings.
