Cort built the GA-MEDX-12-OP as an entry point into the Grand Regal Series, positioning it below the series' existing grand auditorium acoustic-electrics while retaining the core construction and electronics of the line. The model features a Venetian cutaway grand auditorium body joined to the neck via a dovetail joint, and ships in an open pore finish. It is a 12-string configuration.
The top is spruce, with back and sides of African Mahogany (Okoume) and a Mahogany (Palaquium) neck. The fretboard and bridge are both Merbau, with dot inlays and an abalone rosette. Binding is multi-ply ivory. The 45mm nut width and 648mm scale accommodate the 12-string stringing across 20 frets. Die-cast tuners handle the additional string load. Electronics are handled by the Cort CE306T preamp system.
