Cort built the GA-MEDX-OP as an entry point into the Grand Regal Series, positioning it below the series' established acoustic-electric models while retaining the grand auditorium body format and the CE306T preamp system. The Open Pore finish variant — indicated by the OP suffix — completed the range for players who required an acoustic-electric without the premium associated with higher Grand Regal configurations.
Construction centres on a spruce top joined to African mahogany (Okoume) back and sides, with a mahogany (Palaquium) neck attached via a dovetail neck joint. The Venetian cutaway allows upper-fret access across the 20-fret Merbau fretboard. Scale length runs 648mm (25.5"), and the nut measures 45mm (1¾") wide. Appointments include multi-ply ivory binding, an abalone rosette, dot inlays, a Merbau bridge, and die-cast tuners. Electronics are handled by the Cort CE306T EQ system.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — saddles, nuts, tuner buttons, or preamp components compatible with the CE306T — should consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier who can verify dimensional tolerances against the instrument directly before ordering.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
