Cort built the EARTH-GRAND-OP as part of its Earth Series, a line positioned as a tribute to vintage acoustic guitars. The series was designed to reflect the look, sound, feel, and playability of those instruments, and the EARTH-GRAND-OP sat within that line as a dreadnought-body flattop intended to serve both flatpicking and fingerstyle players.
Construction centres on a solid Sitka Spruce top joined to African Mahogany (Okoume) back and sides via a dovetail neck joint, with Advanced Scalloped X-Bracing beneath the top. The Mahogany (Palaquium) neck runs to an Ovangkol fretboard carrying 20 frets at a 643mm (25.3") scale, with a 43mm (1 11/16") nut width and small dot inlays. The Ovangkol bridge and Red Pearl Acryl rosette complete the appointments. The instrument ships strung with D'Addario EXP16 strings and includes a gig-bag. The Open Pore finish — indicated in the model designation — leaves the wood surface with a natural, unsealed texture rather than a high-gloss coat.
Owners requiring replacement parts — bridge saddles, nut blanks, tuning machines, or bracing timber compatible with this construction — should consult a luthier or specialist parts supplier familiar with dreadnought builds at this scale and nut width.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
