Cort built the Action Bass Plus as an entry-point instrument within its Action Series bass line, positioning it for aspiring players who required versatile electronics without a substantial outlay. The series was defined by its combination of practical materials and active electronics across several pickup configurations; the Action Bass Plus occupied the PJ-equipped variant of that range.
The bolt-on neck is Canadian Hard Maple, joined to a Poplar body in a double-cutaway profile. The Jatoba fretboard runs 24 frets at a 400 mm (15.75") radius over a 864 mm (34") scale, with White Dot inlays and Die-cast tuners handling the headstock end. The PSEB4-4/F (P-type) and PSEB1-4/R (J-type) pickup set feeds a 2-band active EQ, providing a broad tonal palette across the four strings. Hardware throughout is Chrome, and the EB6 (4) bridge anchors the strings at the body. A left-handed version was available in the production run.
