Description

The base plate is the structural core of a Floyd Rose Special series tremolo — the plate the saddles, block, fine-tuner screws and mounting hardware all bolt to. When a floating bridge will not return to pitch after tuning or bending, and setup adjustments are not fixing it, the knife edges on this plate are usually the cause. They round over with use and no longer seat cleanly on the pivot posts. Replacing the plate is the repair.

Fitment is not flexible here. This plate is cut for the Floyd Rose Special series. The saddles, intonation hardware, string-lock screws and tension plates that come with or fit a Special series system are machined to this plate's geometry and do not transfer to Original series plates, or vice versa. String count has to match exactly too. Before ordering, confirm you have a Special series unit — not an Original, not a 1000 series, not a licensed copy. If the plate on your guitar is not stamped or documented as a Special series part, measure it and contact us before buying.

This plate is hardened steel with a gold finish. Hardened steel is specified here because the knife edges have to outlast the posts they pivot on — soft material at that contact point is what causes the rounding-over failure this part is meant to fix. The gold finish is a direct match for gold-hardware Special series units.

If you are not certain this is the correct plate for your guitar, send us the make, model and year and we will check it against what we have on the bench.
