Description

These are the two pivot studs the Floyd Rose Special series bridge rocks on. When the knife edges wear into a soft or pitted stud, the bridge loses its return-to-pitch accuracy regardless of spring tension or string lock. Replacing the studs is the correct fix before the knife edges themselves are damaged beyond use. This is a Floyd Rose factory replacement set, hardened steel, gold finish, specific to the Special series.

Whether these studs fit your guitar is decided by the threaded inserts already pressed into the body — not by the bridge itself. Stud and insert diameters are not interchangeable between the Special series and other Floyd Rose series, and they differ again between metric and imperial body routes. Before ordering, identify which insert is in your body. If the insert is the wrong diameter, the stud will either not thread in or will seat loose, and the bridge will rock incorrectly. Pulling and replacing an insert is a bench job; if you are not sure what is in your body, measure before you buy.

The studs are hardened steel. That hardness matters because the knife edges make direct contact here under string tension — a softer stud rounds off at the contact point and the bridge starts to stick. If your current studs show visible wear grooves or flat spots at the knife-edge contact line, that is the failure to address.

If you are not certain this is the right part for your guitar, send us the make, model and year and we will confirm the fit before you order.
