The string lock screw does one job: clamp the string end inside the saddle hard enough that it cannot slip under load. When the head strips, it stops doing that job. A rounded hex socket will not take a key cleanly, the clamp loosens mid-session, and the bridge stops returning to pitch. This set of six replaces all the lock screws across the saddle block at once, so you are not mixing a worn screw with fresh ones.
These are made for the Floyd Rose Special series. Special series hardware is not interchangeable with Original series hardware — the screw dimensions differ between series. Before ordering, confirm your bridge is a Special, not an Original or a licensed copy badged under another name. If your saddles are already showing uneven clamping or one screw is tighter than the others, replace the full set rather than spot-replacing: mismatched wear across six saddles will give you mismatched string tension at the lock point.
Steel construction with a black finish. The black coating can wear at the hex socket first, which is usually where you see the early sign that a screw is about to give out — the finish starts to flake inside the recess before the metal underneath rounds off.
Not sure whether your bridge is a Special series — send us the make, model and year of your guitar and we will confirm the right part before you order.
